Falling to Temptations
Who falls to temptations?
"For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life." (Romans 6:20-22)
"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit." (Romans 8:5)
"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." (Romans 8:9)
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." (Romans 8:14)
"That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God." (Romans 9:8)
"Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God." (1 John 3:9)
"We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him." (1 John 5:18)
Based on this handful of Scripture, I have a general answer to the question. Those who are born of God NEVER sin because they CANNOT sin. Those who are NOT born of God, who are still in the flesh, are BOUND to sin because they lack the power and the disposition to do otherwise.
Do I fall to temptations? Here's an equivalent question: Am I born of God? They are equivalent because the answers are always the same. Am I happy with the answer?
